GATEWAY
A downloadable game for Windows

Gateway is a cinematic action-adventure about stepping beyond the boundaries of the familiar and learning to move forward without knowing what comes next.
This concept demo presents two sides of the project: a narrative-driven opening sequence and an experimental 3D platforming prototype. Together, they demonstrate the central ambition of Gateway, a single journey capable of transforming its visual language, tone, and gameplay as the player crosses between realities.

Gateway is an early concept demo for a narrative-first adventure built around contrast, discovery, and change.
The full IP is envisioned as a journey through several distinct realities, each governed by its own artistic direction, narrative conventions, and mechanical rules. One world may resemble a grounded cinematic drama, while another embraces the responsiveness and exaggeration of a stylized platformer. Although the experience transforms around the player, the protagonist, their developing abilities, and the larger mystery of the Gateway provide a continuous thread.

Deeply integrated in our stilted village stands Ta’Koru, an ancient Structure whose origin and purpose remain unknown.
The people of Ka’kala’mu have lived beneath its presence for generations. Rather than fear what they cannot understand, they have integrated its mystery into their traditions, rituals, and way of life. Once in a generation, an individual is appointed as Mi’Kora’Sha, the Chosen One entrusted with approaching the Structure on behalf of the village.
Only one has entered before.
He never returned.
On the morning of The Festival, our current Mi’Kora’Sha walks through the village one final time. Friends, mentors, and family gather for the procession as he prepares to leave behind the only world he has ever known.
Beyond Ta’Koru waits an impossible space between realities, an ethereal Host, and a journey far greater than the village could have imagined.

The demo contains two independently selectable sections. They can be played in either order from the opening menu, though playing The Festival first is recommended.
The Festival
A cinematic third-person introduction to the narrative, culture, and atmosphere of Gateway.
Descend from the Chosen’s mountain, reconnect with the people who shaped you, and take part in the final preparations for the village procession. The section introduces Ka’kala’mu, its relationship with Ta’Koru, and the personal cost of being chosen to enter it.
The Festival focuses on:
- Environmental storytelling and worldbuilding
- Cinematic presentation
- Character-driven interactions
- Cultural history
- The central mystery of Ta’Koru
Beyond Ta'Koru
A gameplay prototype exploring how Gateway may transform after entering another reality.
This section shifts into responsive 3D platforming, presenting a more playful and mechanically driven interpretation of the project. Movement, level flow, and engaging challenges take priority as the player adapts to a world with different rules.
Beyond Ta'Koru focuses on:
- Responsive third-person movement
- 3D platforming and traversal
- A contrasting artistic and mechanical identity
The two sections are deliberately different. Their contrast represents one of the central promises of the IP: each new reality should feel unfamiliar, but never disconnected from the journey that brought the player there.

One central focus of this project is its soundtrack. As of now, no custom music has yet been made for the project, and is therefore instead making use of tracks from its concept tracklist, which can be found here: [Spotify playlist]
Tracks currently used are:
The Promise (Last Goodbye) - by 1000 Eyes
Prophecy Feat. Kaya Kaspar - by Raïdho Tribe
Mia Storm Pillar Suite - by Nicolas Snyder
Across the larger project, each world is intended to possess its own musical language while retaining subtle recurring motifs that connect it to the overarching story.

The game is best experienced with a Gamepad, but can just as easily be enjoyed with a keyboard and mouse. However, in today's state, the project has not yet implemented gamepad support for its menus. We therefore recommend navigating the main-, settings-, and pause menus with a mouse, then kick back and enjoy the game with your gamepad.

This demo is an early presentation of the creative and mechanical direction behind Gateway. It is not intended to represent the final scope, quality, or structure of the complete game.
Future development would expand the project into a cinematic action-adventure spanning several realities, including:
- A fully developed opening chapter in Ka’kala’mu
- The astral space within Ta’Koru and its mysterious Host
- Distinct realities with their own side stories, aesthetics, and gameplay rules
- An evolving movement and combat system
- A continuous narrative surrounding the Mi’Kora’Sha
- A larger story exploring uncertainty, endurance, corruption, and persistence
The current build exists to test the project’s central proposition: that a game can shift dramatically in form while preserving one emotional, mechanical, and narrative journey.
I really hope you enjoy the vision of this concept and what has been developed for it thus far.
Feedback on both sections and the overarching premise is more than welcome. I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Enjoy!
